Clinton Bortell self-portrait and T. Harmon Parkhurst photograph
Content Description
1 3 x 3 1/4 photograph of Clinton Bartell, self-portrait, as full-length standing figure in cowboy costume with pistol, ca. 1910-15 and one 8 x 10 photograph by T. Harmon Parkhurst of what is believed to be New Mexico Governor Richard Dillon and unidentified man examining a concho belt by U.S. agency truck on a rural road, 1926. The white truck shown in the Parkhurst photograph has been identified as being previously owned by the New Mexico State Highway Department, which was around this time registered to P. Clinton Bortell, a curio dealer and photographer. The side of the truck appears to read "Bortell / U.S. LICENSED TRAVELING INDIAN TRADER / GALLUP N.M."
