Scope and Contents From the Series: The Peña and Marquez families have been sheep ranching in the San Mateo and Seboyeta areas of New Mexico, near Mt. Taylor, since the mid-nineteenth century. Abe M. Peña was born into this ranching tradition. Peña studied animal husbandry and sheep and wool production at the New Mexico College of Agriculture and Mechanic Arts (now New Mexico State University) in the 1940s then was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship to study sheep and wool production in Australia in 1953 and 1954.
