Scope and Content
The collection consists of numerous lectures, addresses and sermons written by George T. Gould, mainly in 1885. Most of the items are later copies of the writings typed by his wife, though some are handwritten. Included is an address delivered to the New Mexico Educational Association. Also contained within the collection are two English literature books probably used at the Millersburg Female College.

Biography
George T. Gould was a minister, educator, and newspaper editor from Kentucky. He came to New Mexico around 1884 from Kentucky. He had been a minister in the Kentucky Conference of the Methodist Episcopal Church and President of the Millersburg Female College in Millersburg, Kentucky from 1875-1883. In New Mexico and Texas, he edited, at various times, the Las Vegas Optic, the El Paso Daily News, the Evening Citizen (Albuquerque), and the Albuquerque Journal Democrat. He died in November of 1911.
