The collection is composed of three series: transcripts, audio cassette tapes, and CD-ROMs. The transcript series is arranged in alphabetical order by the last name of the interviewee. The bulk of the oral histories have a corresponding audio component either in audio cassette tape or CD-ROM format. Within the transcript series, there are subseries for interviews, speeches, and manuscript.
Oral histories topics include memoirs of west Texas ranching, Mesilla Valley farming/ranching, life in Silver City, military, and the Butterfield Stage Coach and other regional subject matter, dating from 1960s-2001.
