Identifier: Ms-0103-SC

Scope and Contents

The Mayfield Community Ditch Group records cover a period from May 9, 1984 to October 25, 1985. The Mayfield Ditch users met and organized in 1984. The group established their by-laws and began negotiations with the state engineer to improve the Mayfield Ditch. The improvements on the ditch consisted of lining the ditch with concrete, and the group wanted the Office of the State Engineer to help provide financial assistance with the project cost. John C. Nunemaker acted as group representative and worked with the state engineer on behalf of the Group. With this collection are the documents relating to the formation and completion of the Mayfield Ditch project. These items include minutes of the Mayfield Community Ditch Group meetings, correspondence with the Office of the State Engineer, construction cost of the project, land maps of the ditch area, bulletins which provide a progress report to members of the Group and photographs detailing construction on the project. John C. Nunemaker maintained the project's papers and assigned a number to each item. The collection maintains the original numerical order, which also closely follows chronological order.
