Scope and Contents
This collection contains five items from Dorothy Pillsbury. There is a journal kept by Pillsbury while in Mexico City during the summer of 1939. There are very few entries in the journal. Most of the writing is on slips of paper inserted into the journal. There also are two letters to Pillsbury. One letter is from Leta Puckney dated June 5, 1963 and the other is in Spanish addressed to the North American children dated July 28, 1939. The remaining two items in the collection are a card registering Pillsbury for classes and loose pieces of paper from a small notepad.

Biographical / Historical
Dorothy L. Pillbury was a southwestern author noted for her books discussing the meshing of the Indian, Spanish and Anglo cultures in northern New Mexcio. A social worker and director of social work in Los Angles, California for fifteen years, she attended Pomona College, The University of Southern California, and the University of New Mexico, Mexico and Puerto Rico. Her work has appeared in The Christian Science Monitor, Coronet, Reader’s Digest, and Land.
