Abstract
Typewritten history of Fort Union prepared for the National Park Service. The work covers the period of the Mexican-American War through the Civil War. Located in Mora County, New Mexico, Fort Union was constructed in 1851. It protected the Santa Fe Trail and served as a supply depot for other military posts in New Mexico. The fort was abandoned in 1891, after the arrival of the Atchison, Topeka, and Santa Fe railroad.
