Abstract

Typewritten memoir recounting the life of Charles Deus, dictated to and edited by Daniel B. Castello. Deus claims to have lead extraordinary "varied adventures on the plains and in the mountains" of Colorado and New Mexico in the late nineteenth century. His adventures included service in the Mexican-American War; gold mining; combating cattle rustlers and vigilantes in Denver; and service in the Civil War.
