Scope and Contents

The papers concern Dunham's 1935 publication, The Geology of the Organ Mountains. Faculty of the New Mexico School of Mines (now the New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology) assisted Dunham in the editing and publication of his text. Their input is documented through letters to the author. Biographical / Historical

English geologist Sir K. C. Dunham wrote extensively on the geology of Great Britain. His interest in the geology of New Mexico was the result of a Commonwealth Fund Fellowship, which brought him to Harvard University and placed him in contact with US geologists. Dunham spent two seasons in the field, between 1933-1935, mapping the topography and the geology of Doña Ana County and the Organ Mountain range.
