Processor’s Note: (From Austin Hoover, 1994)
[provenance: item was in a lot at an upstate New York country auction.] I found nothing to indicate that this is the VV Ranch of Lincoln County once owned by John Poe and sold to Scottish distiller Cree. Some Van Volkenburghs ranched in Arizona. I haven’t identified the brand (Special Collections brand books are in storage.)
Updated in March, 2006: Microfilm was searched in 2006 in regard to the brand, but no matching New Mexican brand was found.
