New Mexico Garden Clubs, Inc. records

 Collection
Identifier: Ms-0473

Scope and Content

This is a minimally-processed collection. Club officers appraised the records in February 2009, discarded materials that did not fit in with the club’s archives policy, and organized what they kept into series they designed in consultation with the archivist. The records are currently organized into these series at the box level. No arrangement or description has yet been done beyond the box level. The current series of arrangement approaches the NMGC's Archives Policy adopted in 2009 in separating state-level (President's) from district records, but is not yet in full accord with that policy.

In addition to the records listed here, there are many scrapbooks from the state organization and individual clubs. These may be sent back to the clubs, or to local historical societies or libraries, depending on the decisions by each club. Scrapbooks from defunct clubs will most likely stay in the Rio Grande Historical Collections and be described as part of this collection.
