Scope and Content
The Elmer Silas Eaker papers comprise 1.5 linear feet and span the years 1858-1978. The collection consists of materials pertaining to his family and his mother's family. There is a family genealogy in the Family records folder, the death notice of his uncle Ben Parker, correspondence with his aunt and uncle Asa and Elma Evans, correspondence with his half-brother Albert T. Roberts, and correspondence with other family members as well. The collection also contains a couple of day books, an old, water-damaged sales ledger from a Carrizozo store, and a book containing information on men from Carrizoz who served in World War I and World War II.
Eaker also collected newspapers of historical events. Some of the newspapers in this collection are from events such as the assassination of John F. Kennedy, the raid of Columbus, New Mexico by Pancho Villa, the death of Archduke Ferdinand, the death of Franklin Delano Roosevelt, and the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II.

Biographical Note
Elmer Silas Eaker was born on July 8, 1901 to Anna Dell Roberts and John Bayley Eaker in Nogal, New Mexico. Elmer was the youngest of three children. Elmer married Grace Helen Taylor in Carrizozo, New Mexico on February 29, 1924, with whom he had three children; Evelyn Ann, Alma Carolyn and John Robert. He graduated from the Capitol College of Pharmacy, May 18, 1936. He was then certified as a Registered Pharmacist by the State Board of Pharmacy of Wyoming on June 5, 1936.
