Scope and Content
The John H. Vaughan papers span the years 1897-1921 and comprise one linear foot. The papers contain notes, clippings, published materials, and scrapbooks created and collected by Vaughan on various topics relating either to New Mexico or North Carolina history, with the majority focusing on New Mexico. The collection is arranged alphabetically by subject.
The scrapbooks created by Vaughan relate to either New Mexico general history or New Mexico's educational history. One scrapbook contains four chapters written by Vaughan from his History of New Mexico, with annotations in the margins beside the text. Two scrapbooks contain general notes and writings on the history of New Mexico. The final scrapbook contains notes, correspondence, and articles on the history of education in New Mexico.
