Scope and Content Note

The pictures in this collection stem from Brewer's collaboration with Steve McDowell which produced a book titled, "The Persistence of Memory: New Mexico's Churches." McDowell holds a journalism degree from the University of New Mexico and lived in Santa Fe.

The 77 pictures are black and white negatives, color negatives, 35 mm color slides, and color transparency.

Biographical Sketch

, a former seminary student, holds a master of fine arts degree from the Chicago Art Institute. He came to New Mexico in 1974 to earn summer credit. Brewer lived in Los Alamos where he was a photographer for Los Alamos National Laboratory.
