From the effects of Joseph H. Reynolds & Adelina Chavez Reynolds. Reynolds family photographs.
1916-1923 Sonora, Mexico
Joseph Reynolds was a clerk, bookkeeper & later manager at the Pilares Company Store at different periods in this time frame. I believe in the year 1918, he clerked at Cananea Store at the Cananea Consolidated Copper Co. Pancho Villa raided this mine in 1917. Toward the end of his time in Sonora, Joe was a partner in a mine called Pilares Extension Mining Company. I assume it went bust.

A few of the photos were not of Nacozari, but in the time frame the Reynolds’ were there. One is Joe Reynolds’ sister Clara, in front of the Loretto Chapel in Santa Fe where she went to school. I think the photo is when she became a novice Sister of Loretto in 1922. receiving the habit in 1923, serving Loretto Academy El Paso as Sister Therese Clare Reynolds. The 1918 postcard to Joe was from his brother Charlie Reynolds at Camp Mills, NY. He left for France 3 days later, serving as Corporal in the 340th Field Artillery National Army. A couple of pics of Adelina’s sister’s, Josie Griggs, Maria Fountain & Luisa Higdon’s children in 1920 Canutillo, Tx. I identified what I could. Other photos were of people in Watrous, NM & Mesilla, seeing the same faces in other Reynolds family albums." Michael Ryan grandson of Joe & Adelina Reynolds of Mesilla
