Scope and Contents

Contains records from the first three years, 1952-1955, of the Near Earth Satellite Search, when the project was under the auspices of White Sands Proving Ground. The files are arranged under five headings: correspondence, administrative files, proposals, reports, and search records. Additional administrative files concerning arrangements with Lowell Observatory are filed in the Lowell Observatory subseries; information on work done after the project was transferred to New Mexico State University, including search work in Quito, Ecuador, may be found in the NMSU subseries.
