Scope and Contents

From the Collection: The Opal Waymire Beaty papers comprise 8 inches and span the years 1906-1972. This collection consists primarily of printed materials relating to home economics. There are classroom materials from the Works Progress Administration (WPA) on different ethnic styles of cooking. There are also several volumes of the NMCA&MA journal, The New Mexico Courier. The papers contain correspondence between Beaty and Merle Blinn Brown, an alumna of NMCA&MA and poet. Additionally, there is correspondence between Beaty and former faculty and students of the Department of Home Economics. The collection is arranged alphabetically by subject.
