Proposals, minutes and notes of the committees on which Townsend served are included in the alphabetical arrangement of committee documents. Published reports and pamphlets pertaining to the convention or on issues the convention discussed are likewise arranged alphabetically by title. Townsend's files, which include the great bulk of his correspondence, have been retained in their originial alphabetical order and where there are several letters from the same person, the correspondence has been further organized chronologically. An extensive newspaper clipping file providing a day by day press account of the convention has been assembled and arranged by date.
