New Mexico Predatory Animals News, 1925

 File — Box: 2, Folder: 2

Scope and Contents

From the Series: Materials contained in the Ed S. Steele papers include correspondence, field diaries, general files and photographs. Correspondence is fairly complete from 1926 until 1952, except for the year 1937. Most of the correspondence are letters, both business and personal, received by Steele rather than outgoing letters written by him. Field diaries were kept by Steele of his work for the U. S. Biological Survey as an agent hunter in New Mexico. These provide an interesting look into the game problems in the state from 1916-1933 and particularly into predator trouble. General files contained in this collection include a copy of New Mexico Predatory Animals News from 1925, poems written by Steele, two recipes, reminiscence and a paper listing shoeing and repairs expenses. Steele's photographs show animal life and hunting scenes and have been placed in the Rio Grande Historical Collections photograph files.
