From the Series: This series consists of four parts, here described separately.

Scrapbook, primarily of newspaper clippings. 1873, 1881-1899.

Subjects include the Maxwell Land Grant dispute, meetings of the New Mexico Stock Growers Association, the Morley heirs' lawsuit, the trial of Charles H. Dane, apples, cattle, and statehood for New Mexico.

Record Book, 1884, 1886-1902, 1905, 1909-1910.

Contains copies of affidavits, agreements, arbitration proposals,articles of incorporation, bills of sale, injunction bonds, certificates of stock, contracts, deeds, legal descriptions of land, lease agreements, letters, minutes, mortgages, notes, notices, receipts, statements, and tallies.

Certificate of incorporation, bylaws, and minutes of S. M. Chase Cattle Company, 1917-1918, 1949.

These papers are glued or fastened with brads onto the pages of a bound volume. A few pages, dated 1949, have been used for computation.

Miscellany. 1838, 1884-1918, 1920, 1930, 1935-1936, 1948-1949, 1951.

Eight folders, containing an 1838 information sheet on Wisconsin and Iowa; bills and statements from the Springer, New Mexico, mercantile operation of Porter and Clouthier, 1884-1885; and miscellaneous financial records and correspondence. The bulk of the material (21 items) consists of letters and bills and receipts relating to the orchard business, 1917-1918. The years after that are sparsely represented; there is only one item each from 1920, 1948, 1949, and 1951.
