Scope and Content

From the Collection: According to the April 6, 1925 issue of Cotton and Cotton Oil News, the average life of a gin plant was seven years, the length of time much of this collection spans (1925-1932). Correspondence and general office files, as well as financial and production records, comprise a large portion of the collection. In addition to these records, there is a sizeable newspaper clipping file, mainly pertaining to the Pink Cotton Bollworm's destruction of crops in Texas. Other published materials include machinery catalogs, and insurance brochures which describe the hazards involved in ginning operations. Also, the original blueprints for the gins are available. Original order (alphabetical by subject file) has been retained in processing.
