 File — Box-Folder: 9:13

Scope and Contents

From the Sub-Series: This series holds all material relating to the works written by Homer C. Pickens, published and unpublished. Included is material used in writing Tracks across New Mexico and the pamphlet Modern Techniques for Trapping Coyotes and Bobcats, as well as short works on mountain lions and mules. This includes manuscript drafts with or without corrections and comments, as well as newspaper clippings used for information in the publications, clippings mentioning the works, and correspondence involving purchase of the works. Autobiographical information about Homer is contained within this series when the material pertained directly to the publication. Informational files, consisting primarily of clippings and correspondence but also of reports and papers, were used by Homer in his research and writing. They have been arranged by date and subject. Homer continued to collect information pertaining to these subjects even after publication so all information has been kept together. The Tracks Across New Mexico files contain correspondence, writings and questions by Norman Brown who started as the writer of the book but who, due to differences with Homer, did not finish it. Information and official reports from Homer's years with the New Mexico Department of Game and Fish, while part of Tracks Across New Mexico, are found in the Professional Files series. Oversize items such as galleys and jacket covers for Tracks Across New Mexico have been removed to the Oversize series.
