Series: Field Notes,, 1977-1989

 Series

Scope and Contents

The Field Notes Series is comprised of research notes compiled by Gile in a three-ring binder. To better preserve the notes, the material was removed from the binder and divided into four folders. These are arranged by date. The binder included the name "Organ Mts. Fault Notes" along the spine, and "Notes" on its front. Most these are typed with handwritten notations on each page. Some notes are entirely handwritten. Numbers on individual pages correspond to Gile's sequential series of notes. However, pages are numbered non-consecutively in this series. This corresponds to the removal of notes from a consecutive sequence of all his field notes. Notes taken on a particular research topic were then merged into one field note book compiled for project use. This explains why the dates listed in the Series are not exactly coordinated. Many pages also include handwritten tabs that correspond to aerial map locations found among Gile's research areas.
