In ordering duplicates, please designate the No. [handwritten] 10109 [stamp] Unless this Negative is purchased, it will be preserved only one year from the time of taking. Sackett served in the Mexican American War, then, from 1849-1850, was stationed with the 1st Dragoons at Dona Ana where he was a scout against the Apache. He is credited with surveying and laying out the townsite of Las Cruces during this time.
