Content Description

Twelve reels of 35mm microfilm of records from the archive of the Durango, Mexico cathedral. The microfilm was produced by the Instituto Nacional de Antropologia e Historia of Mexico and this set was purchased from the collection of the Biblioteca Nacional de Antropologia e Historia. Contains records of the archdiocese of Durango, primarily the books of the ecclesiastical cabildo 1-56 (rolls 1-10) and 85-94 (rolls 16-17), ca. 1635-1856. Significant documents include the ecclesiastical visits of the bishops of Durango to the vast diocese. Missing from this set are rolls 11-15 and 18-20. There are two guides to the microfilm, one produced by INAH and one produced by the University of Texas, El Paso.
