Content Description

Bird's eye photograph of Nogales, Arizona and Sonora, showing the international boundary line between the United States and Mexico, 1909. The photograph has a hand-drawn dashed line representing the international boundary, running through the main street between Nogales, Arizona and Nogales, Sonora. Also a hand-drawn compass rose depicting the cardinal directions. Identified on the print are the residence of A.J. Milliken, the U.S. immigration office, the U.S. customs house, and the "Mexican guard house on the line." Also written on recto are "1909" and "7000 inhabitants." Verso has the photographer's stamp, "W.J. Neumann, Photographer, Kokaks, Amateur Supplies, etc., Nogales, Ariz." The photograph is in a 4.5x10-inch panoramic format and mounted on a 7.5x14.75-inch board.
