Content Description

Seven photographs attributed to photographer J.C. Burge, ca. 1890. Five of the photographs depict scenes around Cd. Juarez and El Paso. One photograph has been identified in other collections as "Apache scouts" by J.C. Burge. Another photograph depicts Chief San Juan, of the Mescalero Apache. This photograph has been variously attributed to Burge, Ben Wittick, and A. Frank Randall. All images are approximately 4.5 x 7.5 inches and all but one are mounted on 6.5 x 9.5-inch cards. The only identifying information is a penciled note on the recto of one card that reads "Juarez," although it's uncertain when the note was made or by whom.
