The site is now on the White Sands Missile Range and it is associated with the Victorio Peak area. Charlie Ryan and Doc Noss were business partners for a brief period before Ryan shot and killed Noss in a dispute on March 5, 1949. The notice was inside of a rusty tobacco can, which also forms part of the accession. The can was allegedly found in the vicinity of Victorio Peak.

Provenance

Allegedly, the can with the notice inside was left at the mine site as notice of Ryan's possession of the claim. It was claimed to have been found in the vicinity of Victorio Peak by members of the Victorio Peak Project during their hunt for buried treasure at Victorio Peak. The can was in the possession of Greg Engstrom, former Whites Sands Missile Range employee, for many years. Engstrom gave the items to Jim Eckles in August 2020.
