Mesilla Valley Canal, Land & Improvement Company Memorial written to the United States Congress to petition the construction of a canal off the Rio Grande through the Mesilla Valley. The Memorial is signed on behalf of the company by Numa Reymond, Phoebus Freudenthal, Henry J. Cuniffe, A.Z. Higgins and one other illegible signature. Also includes signature pages of endorsers, which include territorial governor Edmund Ross, ex-governor and chief justice S. B. Axtell and many others. Also includes a map of the Mesilla Valley showing the proposed canal. NOTE: See RG1996-208 for similar material of the Rio Grande Irrigation & Colonization Company.
