Content Description
Photographs of the Mission Theatre, Mesilla Park, New Mexico, operated by Jack Weiss from 1947 to 1962. The Mission Theatre was built in 1935 and razed in 1962. Photographs date from 1947-1949. Also included are some letters to Jack Weiss from Fotoshop, New York, from 1947 concerning his purchase of a Lektro GSAP movie camera. Weiss used a 16mm movie camera to make local films, which he titled Mesilla Valley Newsreels during the late 1940s. These films are housed in the NMSU Library Archives and Special Collection. Included in this accession is a VHS tape and a DVD containing copies of the films.
