Amador and Campbell families photo and postcard albums
Content Description
Two photograph albums and two postcard albums from the Amador family of Las Cruces. One photograph album has inscription in the front cover: "Clotilde Amador, Las Cruces, NM, 1907." It contains mostly 19th century cabinet card photographs of the Amador family, as well as cartes de visite and tintypes of the Amadors and others. Also included in this album are cabinet card portraits of Durango, Mexico Bishop Jose Antonio Zubiria, and Archbishop of Santa Fe Jean-Baptiste Lamy. The second photo album/scrapbook contains materials related to Natalia Campbell, daughter of Frank Campbell and Corina Amador. Natalia Campbell was a successful dancer from an early age. The scrapbook contains photographs, news clippings, diplomas, event programs, and other ephemera, related to Natalia Campbell ca. 1910-1930. Natalia Campbell was born in 1914 and died in 1953 on the island of Mallorca. The two postcard albums contain hundreds of postcards addressed to and with messages to Corina Amador, ca. 1906-1908. The postcards depict an incredible variety of subject matter. Many are from Mexico and there are a number of real-photo postcards of Parral and Chihuahua.
