Content Description

This collection represents materials from the Ostertag, Hopewell, West, and Bucher families. It includes the scrapbooks and diaries of Anne Bucher, who became the owner and manager of First National Bank in El Paso in the 1930s. Anne Bucher’s diaries date from 1905- 1911 and 1916-1969. In addition there are family photos, papers, and additional diaries from Gertrude W. Zollars, 1902- 1949, and Anne E. West, 1902-1916. The scrapbook photos depict the story of Anne Bucher’s life including her time spent in Ohio; Hillsboro, NM; with friends and family; on ranches; the Ladder Ranch; Black Range, NM; the Gila; Chloride, NM; the family home in El Paso; 1926 Grand Tour of Europe and Asia; and other activities. The diaries represent the daily life of women during these time periods.
