Content Description

Records and reports created by Human Systems Research Inc., "a nonprofit scientific and educational institution, that has pursued basic and applied research in archaeology and related scientific and historic fields since 1972. HSR was founded with a focus on the archaeology of the Tularosa Basin in particular and on southern New Mexico in general." The bulk of the material consists of archaeological site reports, performed under contract. Also included are flat files of accompanying maps, figures and drawings. These match up with the report numbers. Also included in the accession is a reprint of a map of the Tularosa townsite. The map was reproduced from a 1900 copy, which itself was made from the 1885 original from the Dona Ana County Probate Court office. Additionally, one flat box contains items related to the Civilian Conservation Corps, which were found in the HSR office building that originally housed the CCC headquarters in Las Cruces. These include a booklet called Camp Life Reader and Workbook and a book of Certificates of Completion, filled out to Las Cruces CCC camp workers from Pennsylvania in 1940.
