Scope and Content

From the Collection: Collection consists of photocopies of both Carson's will and his certificate of appointment as an Indian agent; the original of his oath of allegiance to the U.S. as a Lt. Colonel; newspaper clippings on Carson. Also included is a photocopy of A.W. Thompson's essay "The Story of Camp Nichols." Carson established Camp Nichols in the Oklahoma panhandle to protect travelers on the Santa Fe Trail.
