Scope and Content

From the Collection: Collection consists primarily of various historical documents from New Mexico. Includes typescripts of Stephen Watts Kearny's proclamation of the United States' annexation of New Mexico and Governor Bautista Vigil y Alarid's response, both dated August 19, 1846; and correspondence of Francisco Lucero de Godoy concerning his portion of the Martinez Land Grant in Taos County, New Mexico. Collection also contains materials relating to the careers of Lansing B. Bloom and John R. McFie; articles of incorporation, constitution, and by-laws of the New Mexico Society for the Friendless (1903); and the constitution and regulations of the Sociedad Benefica Hispano-Americana de Nuevo Mexico (undated).
