Scope and Content

From the Collection: As of 2000, the university’s main campus was comprised of forty-two buildings with a total of 270,122 assignable square feet of space that was used for instruction, research, offices, or study activities. Fifteen buildings were used primarily for instruction, ten provided housing, five were used primarily for athletics, three housed administrative offices and student services, seven were occupied by facilities management, and one was a theater. In addition, the university owned a house that was made available to the university president.

The land area of the campus was 130 acres, with an additional 178 acres that included the university golf course. Total land value was $1,599,391. Total building value was $50,813, 220. Total equipment value was $12,325,891. The administration and care of this land, these buildings, and this equipment is the responsibility of the Office of Facilities Management.

This collection includes plans and drawing of university buildings and grounds, information on specific buildings, and orders and reports relating to the administration of the university’s physical plant.
