 File — Box: 1, Folder: 1

Scope and Content

From the Collection: The Department of Behavioral Sciences and its inclusive disciplines have a long history as an academic unit at New Mexico Highlands University. With various name changes, this history includes

1997- Department of Behavioral Sciences

1995- School of Behavioral Sciences

1993- Department of Behavioral Sciences

1985- Division of Behavioral Sciences

1965- Department of Behavioral Sciences

Before 1965, some of the disciplines within the behavioral sciences were taught in other academic units, such as History and the Social Sciences (see Department of History and Political Science Collection, 16.14) and the Department of Psychology. The latter discipline was organized as an academic unit beginning in 1945.

During some of its history, the Department of Behavioral Sciences stood alone as an academic unit. At other times it was included within larger academic structures, such as the College of Arts and Sciences. For the period before 1930, refer to “A History of Academic Units at New Mexico Highlands University, 1898-2001.”

This collection consists of reports, minutes, program flyers and other materials relating to the programs of the department.
