Scope and Contents

The collection consists of Armenta's files on the early development of the National Hispanic Cultural Center (NHCC) inclusive of reports, memorandums, senate bills, economic impact studies, budget proposals, correspondence, vision statements, committee minutes and documents and ephemera pertaining to the initial undertakings in support of building of the NHCC. The collection also contains newspaper articles about the then proposed Center and bounded monographs of site studies, programming committee documents, NHCC Board of Directors' minutes and package materials promoting the Center.

Biography

Loretta Armenta was a supporter and key player in the development of the National Hispanic Cultural Center (NHCC). She was also a member of the National Hispanic Cultural Center Board, director of the Albuquerque Hispano Chamber of Commerce for more than 10 years, and a successful businesswoman as president of Q-West in New Mexico.
