Scope and Contents
This collection was donated to the Lunder Research Center by Barbara Brenner, granddaughter of O.E. Berninghaus. It consists of materials relating to the paintings and life’s work of O.E. Berninghaus. Included are photographs, papers, printed ephemera, audio recordings, and professional and personal correspondence from O.E. Berninghaus. Barbara Brenner’s decades long research and correspondence revolving around the documentation and cataloging of his work is included as well. This collection also contains papers documenting well known historical figures of early 20th century Taos.

Abstract
This collection comprises research notes, writings, correspondence, printed materials, photographs, and memorabilia belonging to Barbara Brenner and relating to her research on the life and work of Taos artist and founding member of the Taos Society of Artists, O.E. Berninghaus.
Arrangement
Material has been arranged largely in the order it was received. The material is housed in 12 Hollinger boxes and consists of paper and mixed media. Oversized newsprint has been separated into 19 oversized folders and is house in flat file drawers located in the archive storage room.
Separated Materials
An assortment of art and culture magazines has been separated from the collection and is located in the research library. A book documenting the 1921 mural work at the Missouri State Capitol Building is located in the research library's rare book collection.
Bibliography
Barbara Brenner is the granddaughter of O.E. Berninghaus, one of the founding members of the Taos Society of Artists. Born in 1929, Barbara was raised in Taos when many of the original members were still creating art. Beginning as a research project to document and catalog her grandfather’s life work, Barbara has accumulated an extensive collection of papers and photographs from the 20th century. For years, she has been an active member in the various arts organizations and cultural scenes of Taos.
