Museum Studies Resource Files

 Collection
Identifier: IAIA-MS-16

Scope and Content

The Museum Studies Resource Files consist of compiled notes, documents, records, referrals, and copies of reference materials related to the study of museums (75 cu. ft). The files were compiled during the 50 year career of Charles Dailey, former faculty and museum director of the Institute of American Indian Arts.

The Museum Studies Resource Files are arranged alphabetically by drawer. Some of the primary subject headings are: Collections, Conservation, Exhibits, Indians, Indians: Exhibits, Indian Museums, Indians: Repatriation, Museums. A full inventory of files is available upon request.

The Museum Studies Resource Files have been donated to the archives. However, they will reside under the supervision of Jessie Ryker Crawford and be used at will by the museum studies students in the Science and Technology Building. Considering the non-originality of the Resource files, it seemed fitting to the donor, archivist, and department head of the museum studies department to not store them in archives but to have them readily available to students.
