Indian Arts (IAIA) Museum and Museum Studies academic program, 1973-2008 [1973-1995, bulk]. As the director of the museum and the head of the museum studies department, Dailey's collection covers the day-to-day activities of his work, including detailed monthy and annual reports for the museum, planning documents for the academic program, and other important events in the museum such as exhibits and educational programming.

Dailey's collection is the most complete look at the evolution of the museum studies program and the IAIA museum. The monthly and annual museum reports are very telling and provide most of the museum's history, while the textbooks and workbooks for the museum studies courses show the progression of teaching techniques in museum training.

Biographical/Historical note

Charles Dailey was an employee of the Institute of American Indian Arts between 1971 and 2008. He was the director of the IAIA museum for many years of his employment, and was the head of the museum training (later museum stuides) department. Dailey's career is considered by many as being very influential in the Indian cultural center and museum movement of the 20th century through his innovative teaching techniques for Native students. ...
