Scope and Content

From the Collection: Sub Group 10, 1970 of RG-01, IAIA Records consists of materials originating from the Insitutute of American Indian Arts during the year of 1970. The sub group is divided into five series: Series I: Curriculum, Series II: Hookstone Student Sales Center, Series III: Students, Series IV: Exhibits, Series V: Publications and Public Relations.

Series I, Curriculum, holds the most interesting materials for researchers. Two reports contrast the achievements and future of IAIA in 1970. In Folder 1, "Educational Systems for the Seventies Arts Curriculum Project" outlines the future of the arts program while in Folder 2 "Special Report to the Commissioner of Indian Affairs" outlines the achievements of IAIA since its inception in 1962 and provides the BIA with recommendations as to ways of improvement.

Series III, Students, contains a detailed list of students, graduates, and statistics that may be of assistance to researchers.

The final series, Series V, Publications and Public Relations, give detailed accounts of the goings-on of the Institute through newspapers, newsletters, poetry books, and magazines.
