Scope and Contents

From the Series: The sixth series of the Lloyd H. New Papers consists of 50 folders from 1967-1978 and is divided into 5 sub-series: General, Reports, IAIA Writings, BIA, and Board of Regents.

The first sub-series, General, contains 8 folders of correspondence, transcripts from interviews, recruiting information, performance evaluations, and a grant proposal.

The second sub-series, Reports, contains 18 folders of reports about the curricula, the BIA’s responsibility, the transition and accreditation process at IAIA, and the UNESCO Report written to explain IAIA’s history and plans for the future.

The third sub-series, IAIA Writings, contains 10 folders of Mr. New’s later versions of his essays on Cultural Difference and Creative Education, as well as his testimony to the Senate Subcommittee about the role of IAIA in the development of Indian Education.

The fourth sub-series, BIA, contains 6 folders about the Albuquerque Indian School conference and the teacher educational packets developed there.

The fifth sub-series, Board of Regents, contains 8 folders of meeting minutes, membership rosters, correspondence, memoranda, resolution and reports.
