Scope and Contents

The seventeenth series of the Lloyd H. New Papers consists of 32 books that have been separated from the Archives Collection of the Institute of American Indian Arts to the Lloyd H. New Reference Collection in the Library of the Institute of American Indian Arts.

There are 4 hardcover books and 28 paperback volumes.

Three of the most interesting volumes are "Mending the Circle: A Native American Repatriation Guide" published by the American Indian Ritual Object Repatriation Foundation (1996/97) and "The Native People of the Northeast Woodland: An Educational Resource Publication" published by the Museum of the American Indian/Heye Foundation (1990). In addition, the collection includes "Brave Against the Enemy: A Story of Three Generations---Of the Day Before Yesterday, Of Yesterday and Of Tomorrow" (1944) published by the Haskell Institute Printing Department and that is written in both English and Sioux.
