Scope and Content From the Collection: This collection contains the research materials that William deBuys used to produce a MA, a PhD, several books and many articles. Most of these concerned the environment in the Southwest, particularly the mountains of New Mexico and the Imperial Valley of California When the Baca Ranch was purchased in 2000 resulting in the creation of the Valles Caldera National Preserve and the Valles Caldera Trust to manage the Preserve, deBuys served as chairman of the trust.
