Biographical Information

Joan Carlson, the donor of these materials, is a great-great-granddaughter of Samuel B. Watrous. Watrous, previously known as La Junta de los Rios, is located in Mora County, New Mexico and within the John Scolly land grant. The town was named after Samuel B. Watrous in 1884. The Watrous House was dedicated a National Historic Landmark in 1963.
