The collection consists of records associated with the Lincoln County Heritage Trust organization and operations. There are: museum operation records, historic preservation records, financial records, research materials, newspaper and maganzine articles, and essays on the history of Lincoln and Lincoln County, New Mexico. Materials include information on Billy the Kid and the Lincoln County Wars.

Organization Information
The Lincoln County Heritage Trust (LCHT) was established in 1976 as a non-profit organization by ordinance of the County of Lincoln. The Trust administered the county historic preservation ordinance that governs a National Historic Landmark District in Lincoln, NM, known as a historic museum village. Its tasks were to preserve Lincoln historic properties and to collect historical materials. The Trust opened and maintained for the public, a museum known as the Historical Center and operated a bookstore in the historic Luna House. It ceased its operations in the 1990s and was taken over by the Hubbard Museum, New Mexico. Then, in 2006, the buildings and their contents were transferred to the Department of Cultural Affairs. The Trust was dissolved in 2010
