Biographical Information
Augusta Mecke was born 1862 in Rüdershausen in the Kingdom of Hanover. Upon the death of her father, her mother Catharina Mecke and her three children Ernest, Clara, and Augusta emigrated to New York City in the early 1870s. Clara married Andreas Kopp. Augusta married fellow German Charles Probst and settled in Santa Fe where they maintained a drugstore and a brewery. Augusta Probst's uncle August Kirchner went into business with them under the business name of "Probst and Kirchner." Augusta also became the executor of Clara and Andreas Kopp's minor children.
