Biographical Information
Paul Horgan was born August 8, 1903 in Buffalo, N.Y. He moved to Albuquerque with his family in 1915. In 1919 he enrolled at the New Mexico Military Institute in Roswell (NMMI). Upon graduation in 1923, he return to the East until he accepted the librarianship at NMMI in 1926. He served in the U.S. Army from 1942-1946, and was subsequently employed at Wesleyan University. He died in Middletown, CT on March 8, 1995. Horgan was the author of many novels, non-fiction books, short stories, and poems. He had been awarded the Pulitzer Prize of History twice: in 1955 for Great River: The Rio Grande in North American History and in 1975 for Lamy of Santa Fe.
