Biographical Information
Charles Wittick was the second son of George Benjamin (Ben) Wittick, photographer of the Southwest, and Frances Lelia Averill of Old Town, Maine. He was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, 5 October 1868, while his father served in the army at Ft. Snelling. The family moved to Moline, Illinois, after Ben Wittick's discharge from the army. Charles was with his father when his father died from a rattlesnake bite at Ft. Wingate, New Mexico in 1903.
Charles Wittick married Venda Peterson on 27 December 1893 in Moline, Illinois. They had two children: Mamie (Mrs. Axel Swenson) and Eugene Wittick. Charles Wittick died 13 May 1943 in Moline, Illinois.
